Maren + Pati // A Conceptual Shoot in Rural Norway

Last spring, my friends Maren and Pati and I traveled to Norway to visit Maren’s home and celebrate Norwegian independence day. While we were there, we wanted to photograph some conceptual work in the countryside, as we had the time and motivation to create, together as students in our photography class.

What followed was my own creation of a conceptual photoshoot in rural Norway, where my two friends donned fur coats from Maren’s father’s collection against a minimalist, desolate landscape. I wanted to delve into the themes of human connection, the inner strength of womanhood, and the beauty of companionship.

Each frame, to me, captures the profound intimacy and vulnerability shared between my friends, symbolizing the warmth and support found in meaningful female relationships. To me, this photoshoot celebrates the strength of womanhood, showcasing my models as powerful and independent individuals. The fur coats, typically associated with elegance and luxury, were recontextualized to serve as a metaphor for the resilience and tenacity often associated with women. My friends exuded confidence and grace, their gazes expressing a deep understanding and harnessing of their own self-worth. Through this visual exploration, I sought to challenge societal expectations and highlight the inherent power within every woman.
