Lu + Mel // A Berlin Love Story

It’s about time I got around to sharing this engagement session, with two of the most beautiful humans I’ve been lucky to meet. On this vibrant afternoon last summer, I had the privilege of capturing the remarkable love story between Lu and Mel, two talented photo+media artists now living in Portugal. For years, they split their relationship between Portugal and Germany, but are now finally together in Porto, with occasional trips back to Berlin to visit family. I was lucky to catch them on one particular trip home, and I’m so grateful I did.
The late afternoon sun drenched the streets of Berlin when we met, and cast a warm glow as Mel and Lu strolled hand in hand—their love evident in every touch and smile.
As we began our photoshoot, Berlin opened up for us, providing the perfect backdrop to capture their connection. We found ourselves drawn to Museum Island first, where we ran through the columns of the Neue Nationalgalerie and the Neues Museum as the afternoon progressed. From there, we walked along the Spree and followed our fancy into the historic streets of Mitte, where we stopped for donuts at Brammibals and explored various alleyways and hidden courtyards.
Berlin is a city that resonates with individuality, diversity, and inclusivity. It embraced Mel and Lu’s love story with open arms, as it does with countless others, to not only celebrate their unique love but also pay homage to the vibrant tapestry that makes Berlin the extraordinary city it is today.
